Ignoring the Obvious

SANCTE PATER: Be careful not to offend gay worshippers, Catholic priests warned

For some reason, homosexual activists, like the Hollywood divas, have some kind of crazy idea that the world revolves around them. They think they have a "vote" in something they clearly know nothing about or have outright rejected.

We must be very clear: the Church does not exist as an admiration society for whatever popular immoral issue happens to be running the headlines. The Church, in fact, is a hospital for SINNERS. She is concerned with the salvation of SINNERS. Jesus Christ died for SINNERS...and that would be ALL of us. Including practicing homosexuals.

They should be flattered that the Church doesn't cave into their demands to accept their lifestyle, for if she did, that would mean that she didn't love them and that Christ, her Bridegroom, does not love them. The very fact that the Catholic Church continues to stand up for the sacramentality of heterosexual marriage (thus for LIFE) is directly indicative of her love of homosexuals.

Personally, I'm thrilled to be given the title of "sinner" and a place to go for help. That means both that I'm loved and that I have the dignity given to me by God that indicates I still have the ability to reject what is evil in favor of virtue and all those things that are of God.

The second the Church starts affirming me in my own favorite sins, I will realize that I am no longer loved by God.

I think God will always love you and be pure even if His Bride, Holy Church, fails to hold up her end of the deal. Furthermore, when the Church affirms us (me too) in our sins we will know that Satan has made enormous progress. Even if that happens, we still need to hold fast.

Um, Cathy...that was hyperbole. First of all...the Church WON'T fail to hold up her end of the bargain: "The gates of Hell will not prevail" and all.

Thus, if the Church gave in, she would not be the Church. Akin to saying God does not love us.

I totally get what you are saying...and I agree 100%! We are so lucky to belong to the True Church, where we can go for comfort, instruction, forgiveness and healing.
The fact that Jesus Christ died for each and every one of us is the most beautiful proof of this Love...and I, for one, am eternally grateful!
May it one day be His will that the gays will see it this way, too...

To open the doors to people living in sin is what the Church has always been about, to care for them, to love them. This is a very different thing than what is being asked here.

God grant boldness and strength to faithful Catholics, whether clerics or lay people.

More rot is coming with your President-elect. I simply could not believe the number of evangelical Christians, not a few mega leaders among them, and cafeteria Catholics, including clergy selling their souls over abortion issue.

Maybe we are just beginning to see how narrow the narrow path really is.

How narrow, indeed...
I, for one, do NOT consider Barack Obama my President. I did not vote for the man, I disagree with him on every issue...he is not, nor will he ever be, my leader.
The mere fact that he will be the leader of the country in which I am most fortunate to live turns my stomach...and those who did vote for him have much to learn.
May God help them all!

At least not all of the English bishops supported that initiative - the likely suspect for opposition to it already said that it was crap days ago.

I guess there must be some translation out there where Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery, "Go and have sex all you want." Anyone got a copy?

owenswain said...

Cygnus, that is totally ridiculous!

Everyone knows what he said was "Go and have safe sex and if something naughty happens you have the power of choice to do as seems right to you." And, I'm pretty sure it can be found in the NAB.

I stand corrected, Owen! See you at bible study. ;-)

Owen ~ Amazing, isn't it? The pretty boy winning the vote. I feel like I'm in Jr. High again.

Jenn ~ Here's the problem; whether we like it or not, he IS our President, we are obligated to pray for him and support him to the degree possible, and he IS our leader. We don't have to be happy about it, but let us remember that all legitimate authority is from God. He was validly elected, as far as we know...and given all the Obama signs everywhere, well, we have reason to believe this election was legit. Even WITH the rampant fraud, we've elected Obama, to the detriment of all this country has ever stood for. Don't be like those wussies who claimed Bush wasn't their President; he was and he is still..until January. Don't fall into their self-absorbed trap and be like them. God has given us a leader, it's one we deserve, and we need to suck it up. Even Christ accepted the authority of Caesar. In fact, even given the brutality of the Roman Empire, their established government was one of the ironic cultural things that allowed the birth of Christ to take place. Jesus entered history in world of relative peace...thanks to the Roman Empire. He did not choose to enter during the chaos of the Divided Kingdom, but during an era of oppression and the "peace" resulting from it. When you look at Obama, remember Caesar...and the joy of the birth of our Savior.

Cygnus and Owen ~ ROFL!

But of course, you realize that Jesus was warm and fuzzy and didn't do ANYTHING to offend anyone for he preached tolerance and acceptance before His Christian Homophobic persecutors scourged him. Because He died because He was gay (in that abundantly and ridiculously homosexual culture).

Adoro ~ I see what you mean and you are correct! It is good to have someone point out the other side of an issue; we have to obey lawful authority, whether we like it or not, don't we? :(
Our pastor even reminded us the Sunday after the election that, even tho' he was assuming that no one @ Holy Mass that day had voted for Obama, we must all pray for him and obey him when he does not enforce any laws against the Church...but there is nothing wrong with civil disobedience when he signs into law such infuriating pieces as the FOCA. Sadly, I see that as the tip of the iceberg.
Just to explain what I mean, I have to call to my mind the lawful authority of Herod, as well...and his obsession with murdering so many children (sounds painfully similar to Obama, doesn't it?)!

Adoro said...

Herod brutally murdered his own children for the sake of saving his crown? Yup...sounds like a LOT of people today. Obama is only ONE of them. He's the happy face of abortion.

I followed the link's link to the source, which isn't sourced. pretty schlocky reporting from dailymail.

hello, Adoro ~
I came across this quote from our late, great Pontiff,John Paul II:
'Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song...'
Smart man, eh? ;) I immediately thought of you and this whole thread re:Obama.
God bless you! ~ J.

Jenn ~ Thank you, but I am not sure where you're seeing "despair" in this post or thread? Rather, in the post and comments we're criticizing the people who think they have the right to make demands upon the Church. And they don't. They don't see what we do, that we're all sinners, and that the Gates of Hell (including their earthly counterparts, the activists) won't prevail.

I've seen that quote many times, and love JPII. Although that's not my favorite quote of his, to be honest. I prefer, "It is Jesus you seek when you dream of happiness..." and the rest of the two paragraphs that define that sentence! Google the term...you'll be amazed!

You know, I think one of the most beautiful things of this election for me was the sifting that happened among the voters. So many of us got together irrespective of creed, religion, sex or color and fought tooth and nail for families.

I am so thankful this marriage amendment in California passed, and for the wide based support it found among the hearts of so many.

Our critics are fierce, that’s for sure. I’ve been blogging about the marriage issue in all it’s facets since October, I’m just a newbie to the issue, but boy is it interesting seeing how we got ourselves in this mess, and how homosexuality has crept up while we were looking the other way.

Amazing.

Beetlebaby ~ It IS amazing, isn't it? We've been asleep at the switch while they've tried to take over. And now that we're peacefully defending the family, all they have to fall back on is violence.
