Adoro te devote, latens Deitas, quae sub his figuris vere latitas: tibi se cor meum totum subjicit, quia te contemplans totum deficit. *** Godhead here in hiding, whom I do adore, Masked by these bare shadows, shape and nothing more, See, Lord, at thy service low lies here a heart, Lost, all lost in wonder at the God thou art.

Pentecost ~ Veni Sancti Spiritus
Veni, Sancte Spiritus,
et emitte caelitus
lucis tuae radium.
Veni, pater pauperum,
veni, dator munerum
veni, lumen cordium.
Consolator optime,
dulcis hospes animae,
dulce refrigerium.
In labore requies,
in aestu temperies
in fletu solatium.
O lux beatissima,
reple cordis intima
tuorum fidelium.
Sine tuo numine,
nihil est in homine,
nihil est innoxium.
Lava quod est sordidum,
riga quod est aridum,
sana quod est saucium.
Flecte quod est rigidum,
fove quod est frigidum,
rege quod est devium.
Da tuis fidelibus,
in te confidentibus,
sacrum septenarium.
Da virtutis meritum,
da salutis exitum,
da perenne gaudium, Amen, Alleluia.

what's the source of the pentecost tongues icon?
very nice
I pulled the icon off of google images. It's a maronite pentecost icon.
"Google Images" sure has made it possible for the creatively unimaginative person such as myself to be able to spiff up a blog with a great image with not much effort!
Beautiful hymn. Do you have a link to the hymn being chanted in Latin? I am looking for one.
SM ~ I actually don't have a link to the chant. I was actually trying to find one when I posted this. I found Taize stuff, but of course, that's not what you nor I are looking for.
If you happen to find one online, please let me know!
