Blogging Quotes for Today

Please enjoy another installment of my new feature, requested by my regular commenters.

Please note that NONE of the quotes are directed at or about any particular person, but rather, are meant to poke fun at we bloggers in general and what we do, whether virtuously or vicefully.  (Yes, I made that word up. I'm a blogger. Dictionaries don't apply to me.)

"Great Moments in Blogging:  In 2008, a popular Catholic blogger attended Mass and witnessed liturgical abuse, but out of a moment of charity, decided not to blog an outraged rant about it upon returning home."
~ Inspired by a Guindon cartoon caption about Ernest Hemingway

"Blogging largely consists in saying 'Lord Jones is dead' to people who never knew Lord Jones was alive"
~ slightly edited quote by G.K. Chesterton

"Bloggers should be read, but neither seen nor heard."
~ Inspired by Daphne Du Maurier

"If you haven't got anything nice to say to anybody, come write at my blog!"
~ Inspired by a famous quote from Alice Roosevelt Longworth

Ha ha! Love that last one.

Actually, I block comments because there were too many people saying things more nasty than I ever have. There is ranting, and then there is hatred. I have banned hatred.

Katherine ~ I moderate on anything older than 5 or 7 days. If I get nastiness, sometimes I send it to my "Favorite Hate Mail" folder so that I can rip it apart and laugh uproarously at it at some point in the future.

Overall, I really haven't gotten that many nasty comments. My post on Nietzche from 2005 or 2006 is actually my biggest troll-trap, actually.

"Troll Trap." LOL! I love that term. And good for you for keeping your folder.

I was getting people who were politically involved locally and wanted some kind of revenge. Some of them were so vile, I got depressed, wondering what kind of people I was living near. I decided I didn't need to read their rot which better positions me to keep a more positive attitude. In my heart, I know most people are not hateful crazies.

Katharine ~ I don't write a lot of political stuff so don't tend to get that kind of thing, but yeah, I've seen people at each other's throats, the stuff they think they can say! Most people are decent, but unfortunately, it seems that in some places, only the scum is commenting. I'm grateful to have decent people here!

LarryD ~ Yeah, I do really think it would seriously offend much of my readership. It was fun to write several years ago and still cracks me up...but I'm a bit nutso that way! ;-)

Good if you can avoid politics.

I'm not saying I am a saint because I can sure do my share of political ranting and slamming, but some of these people I am talking about are more than just ranting. And they make it very personal. Yikes!

Anyway, I would LOVE to read the post you took down. Can you email it to me? katherine.gotthardt@gmail.com
