The Belmont Stakes

Did you SEE that!??

Rags to Riches, the first filly EVER to win at a mile and a half, the first filly in 100 years to win the Belmont!

She stumbled coming out of the gate, held the middle throughout the race, but in in the last quarter mile as they came around the turn she accelerated and went head to head with Curlin, to come out ahead at the wire.

WOO HOO!

And there's a made-for-TV movie on tonight about Ruffian, my other favorite winning filly. (Winning Colors, 1989 (?) Kentucky Derby winner is another favorite).

I LOVE horseracing!

I missed it. Sounds like a good one! I was out running errands all day. Thanks for the recap!

Horse racing is the only sport that doesn't last longer than my attention span!

Melody deserves an "L.J." for that one.

But I don't know how to do it in Blogger. (html tag)

Ray, thanks, but what is an "L.J"?

melody ~ That's "Ray-speak" for an icon of Jerry (as in "Tom and Jerry" cartoons) laughing. Since he can't post the icon, he abbreviates the intention! LOL!

now, that's a laugh!

Adoro! How could you support such exploitation of animal peoples! I am saddened.

Che' ~ Have you ever been backside at the track? Those horses (not people, they are animals) are treated better and live better than you or I ever will. Their medical care is far superior, their nutrition is superior, and they are treated like kings.

They also love to run; a horse that does not love to run is quickly retired from racing. And if those animals are not kept happy, they make sure everyone knows it.

If you ever went backside, you'd wish you were a horse!
