LOL! Are you SURE you wouldn't want him? He seems wonderful around other dogs AND cats both! People who meet him tend to just fall in love with him...that's always a good sign... And he's mellow so doesn't really take up THAT much space.

And..tell you what, Father, if he were to go to a monastery I'd donate one of my 2 dog beds to go with him so you wouldn't have to worry about it!

(Hee hee...no pressure....)Adorohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02853244433854822731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15170815.post-7530321352917160832010-02-06T14:32:02.877-06:002010-02-06T14:32:02.877-06:00You are absolutely right.

There is a really important bond that happens between us and the dogs.
Thank you for this post!
PS: I'd take "Bear" tomorrow if we were at our Priory...we are pressed for space and the current inhabitants wouldn't like it, I'm afraid!Fr. Have been there...for necessary things including mere pain treatment even knowing that it was incurable. :-(

Charlene ~ I admit it will be HARD to part with him, but it would be IMPOSSIBLE to actually take him on when I actually have to do my own dog's teeth...and can't because I can't afford it. If it's not life-threatening, basically...it's not gonna happen. That's the sad truth.

Grandpa needs a home that can afford even his most basic veterinary care of shots and Frontline and Heartgard and random stuff. I am not that home, and so it would be worse if I adopted him and then had to surrender him because I can't pay for him.

Gosh, I have been putting off CAR repairs, the idea of keeping a dog on my limited payroll is just plain impossible.

He needs and deserves a better home. And that's why I agreed to be a foster. Because I came into it with this mental barrier, knowing this is NOT my dog and will NEVER be my dog. He belongs to someone else, so I see myself as a caretaker...maybe a dog-nanny! LOL!

Animals have always meant a great deal to me, too... Hmm...I should find my story of Nickers for you, if I have it posted to my blog. He's a horse I nearly adopted.

Melody ~ LOL, yup, the fuzzy-butts sharing a kennel and cleaning a dish together! The lighter butt is my girl, the darker butt is "Bear". He looks smaller but believe me is a bigger dog...or should be! I think he has more German breeding.Adorohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02853244433854822731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15170815.post-57693776892522815702010-02-03T21:55:55.025-06:002010-02-03T21:55:55.025-06:00I wish we could be dog people. Mostly the one where I am allergic to poop that isn't in a diaper.

I really like your analogy about the garden of Eden and God and us...but cats are from the devil. I'm convinced of it.

God bless your efforts to find Bear a good home!Laura The Crazy Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08904542599983127845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15170815.post-88496104417114571292010-02-01T17:56:42.686-06:002010-02-01T17:56:42.686-06:00Love that picture of the two tails! You won't be able to part with him and it will be traumatic for him to leave you and your precious German Shepherd daughter. I would take Bear in a heartbeat, but I am doing more travel these days now that I no longer have my dear Miniature Poodle daughter. Thank God that I have our zoo where I have had the pleasure of introducing chinchillas, blue-tongued skinks, snakes, guinea pigs, bearded dragons, and other wonderful critters to an adoring public who had never touched such amazing animals. Recently in Mexico I cuddled (and wanted to bring home) some amazingly beautiful iguanas! I was in heaven! We have been truly blessed with these animals and they love and trust us not to hurt them. They never cease to amaze me. I talk to all animals and they always respond. If I make it to heaven, I know that I will see the animals who helped me get through my chilhood; the animals who were always there for me; the animals that I have loved and never forgot; the animal ambassadors at our zoo who trusted me to present them to audiences knowing that I would never let anyone hurt them.
Animals mean so much to me. As a child I was going to run away from home, but I knew I could not take care of my doggie and myself on the streets and I was afraid that we might be separated. Without that little mutt, Sweetmeat, I would not have made it through my childhood. He was a gift from God.Charlenenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15170815.post-17064149724606905922010-02-01T10:01:29.654-06:002010-02-01T10:01:29.654-06:00Bear looks beautiful and I loved the pictures! We have spent thousands in vet bills over the last couple years. Teeth cleanings are outrageous, too!Mary N.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06618318192221168152noreply@blogger.com
