But we were in diners like that all over the midwest. There was one in Wisconsin we used to visit en route to Michigan; a diner in the middle of nowhere. I've been in them in southern MN heading west, and in South Dakota. They were always the same, from the banging screen door to the stools on one side and booths on the other. It seems like they get beat out by the fast-food places. There's some chains now which try to imitate the old diners, but they're not the same.
