The locals do it all the time, but then again...it's their back yard, literally for some. And they had special shoes.

Amazing about the flood and the car hanging. Thank God you all had abandoned it!Adorohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02853244433854822731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15170815.post-11041153376318593972008-03-11T22:33:00.000-05:002008-03-11T22:33:00.000-05:00adoro, very good story. I can't imagine your experience in the storm and the spider web - I'm not sure I would have been brave enough to do what you did, but one never knows.

anyhoo, I had to mention that I was with a group of friends visiting someone in Oklahoma when we (our car) was caught in a flash flood. Amazing story all told. We abandoned the car and next day it was found hanging from a tree! My POINT however, is that I was wearing Nike's as well and kept them for years as they always reminded me of my escape from death!

Thanks for sharing your well-told story.Debbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02454937406530486401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15170815.post-30959895278835832162008-03-09T21:56:00.000-05:002008-03-09T21:56:00.000-05:00MJ ~ I hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense...MJ ~ I hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense. Maybe one of these days I will dig those old nike's out and observe the red dust on them.

Incidentally, I wonder if the dust is red in Jerusalem? Does anyone know?Adorohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02853244433854822731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15170815.post-63140233614159957402008-03-09T19:51:00.000-05:002008-03-09T19:51:00.000-05:00Great story! I still pray the rosary during bad storms, but I'll also throw down blessed salt and holy water while praying to be protected from the storm.

So far God hasn't seen fit to send a tree through my house, and if He does, I'll just...uh..well, probably start shaking at the sound of thunder for the rest of my life.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15170815.post-37208199863029312352008-03-09T15:20:00.000-05:002008-03-09T15:20:00.000-05:00Thrilling accounts, thanks for sharing. I was terrified of storms as a kid, but like you have learned to find beauty and the grandeur of God in it. However I'm still afraid of tornadoes; our state has their share of them. Not sure if it's an irrational fear, or a well-founded one! My grandmother taught us to keep blessed palms, and ask the intercession of St. Barbara for protection against storms.Melody Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00442985285647041700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15170815.post-64991167709182793192008-03-09T11:15:00.000-05:002008-03-09T11:15:00.000-05:00adoro: Gripping stuff (ok, you know what I mean!)....adoro: Gripping stuff (ok, you know what I mean!). My backside was completely covered in red mud from sliding down the rocks, and at some point I'd brushed against a cactus and had a long scratch on my leg. I still have the shoes I wore that day, and you can still see the red mudstains! (I really should throw those shoes away...they're probably completely worn out!)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15170815.post-13365641683273787262008-03-08T23:29:00.000-06:002008-03-08T23:29:00.000-06:00:-)Beautiful.
